Having a Great Summer!

Extravaganza11Hello Everyone!

It’s been such a great summer for me and the band! We’ve played a lot of cool places and have some really great shows on the way. Murphy and Scarletti’s went awesome and Mac’s Lounge was such a great time! The Extravaganza was really cool too…

Exciting news- We’ll be on the Fox Morning Show August 13th and at a Film Industry Mixer at Monster Lab the next day. We’re headlining Sully’s on the 22nd and Sept. 12th, we’ll be at The Red Rock!

We are currently putting our new songs together for our first band album and the songs are coming out so fun. They are going to be so sweet to perform live too! Some of the names are Sick, Watchdog, See-Saw (Jenny thinks this one is a big hit) Charmed, and Things We Don’t Talk About.

Things We Don’t Talk About is the song Joe and I just finished this Sunday!  It came out so cool. Can’t wait for you to hear it!

The new album will be released on Halloween, so keep October 31st reserved for our big CD Release Costume Party!

AND…last night I went to Foxwoods Casino and won $120 on a penny slot!! It doesn’t get much better than that! Hope your summer is just as fun.

Talk soon-

I’m so proud to say that I have organized this series at The Pug…

Anyone inetersted in submitting a CD can mail it to The Pug. Address below…

The Corner Pug’s Featured Songwriter Series, “Come See Music’s Future”

ELMWOOD, CT- The Corner Pug, local pub/restaurant, announces it’s “Featured Songwriter Series” scheduled to begin every Wednesday the month of June, in the restaurant’s “Pug Room” at 1046 New Britain Avenue, Elmwood. CT 06110. Spotlights run from 8:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. and will showcase albums that the selected featured songwriters have recently recorded. Performances in June by Latanya Farrell, Jennifer Hill, special musical guests and The Corner Pug’s very own Alex P. Taylor, promise to be an entertaining showcase of personality and talent.

On June 3rd, 2009, Alex P. Taylor will kick off the series with original material from his newly released album, “Don’t Miss the Bus” and his debut album “Stop Signs and Red Lights.” Taylor, residing in Elmwood, wrote the lyrics to his first song when he was nine. During the summer of 2005, dealing with the death of a good friend and co-worker, he would rediscover and embrace his passion and gift of songwriting. Currently, several of Taylor’s songs are being played by The Amp Radio Network at gas stations throughout CT. (www.alexptaylor.com)

On June 10th, 2009, Latanya Farrell will be celebrating her birthday and performing material from her debut album, “Feelin’ Alright.” Farrell, crowned winner of Connecticut Star Search, began her journey shortly after in recording studios around the country learning the music business and developing her writing style in 2003.  In 2007, she co-wrote and performed the title track for TOMI winning original motion picture, “She’s Got It.” (www.latanya.net)

On June 24th, 2009, Jennifer Hill will be dazzling the crowd on her keyboard, performing songs from her self titled debut album. Hill, who recently organized CT’s chapter of S.W.A.N. Day (Support Women Artists Now), is in the studio, recording her sophomore album with her band, Jennifer Hill and Co. She is signed to Sling Slang Records. (www.jenhillband.com)

Currently, the June 17th, 2009 time slot is open. The Corner Pug will be accepting CD submissions via postal mail from songwriters who wish to showcase their original material. Please mail your CD, bio, and contact information to The Corner Pug (1046 New Britain Avenue, Elmwood, CT 06110). All material is non-returnable and will be reviewed promptly. Please send all submissions: Attn: Alex P. Taylor.

The Corner Pug has long contemplated use of their “Pug Room” as a platform for live music. Wednesdays, this month of June, will provide patrons with the opportunity to dine and enjoy beverages accompanied by the sounds of local musicians performing songs that they have written about their real life experiences.

Amy’s Song and Twitter!

100_22171Greetings Friends-

I can’t believe I almost have the copies of “Don’t Miss the Bus” ready for the CD Release Party in May! In the meantime, this past week, I had the opportunity to step back into the music studio and record a song as a wedding gift for my good friend Amy. She is getting married in May! So, we both have big events coming up!

I named it “So Many Times (Amy’s Song)”. Take a read. The words are below and then hop over to my music player on MySpace and hear the final version.

www.myspace.com/alexptaylor

It came out really pretty and they will be dancing to it at their wedding this May! I guess it pays to have one of your good friends be a songwriter…lol. Congrats to Jon and Amy! Enjoy!

Talk soon!

So Many Times (Amy’s Song)

Verse 1

If I had to sing a song

With someone

My whole life long…

If I had to hold one hand

I hope

You’d understand

How I feel

What I mean

Things I say

While I dream

Chorus

So many times

So many ways

Of Valentines

And sunny days

No more clouds

Goodbye rain

Something in

My heart has changed

Verse 2

If I had to chose one place

I’d live

My whole life long

With you I would feel safe

Beside you

I would feel strong

I’d be home

Moonlight beam

On my face

While I dream

Chorus

So many times

So many ways

Of lullabies

And serenades

No more doubt

Goodbye pain

Something in

My heart has changed

Special End

So dance with me

Sweet melody

Come say the things

You say to me

It’s with such love

I say your name

For you are why

My heart has changed

Hello my love

So glad you came

For you are why

My heart has…

Changed

My Trip to NYC!

Posted in A.P.T. Blog on March 12th, 2009 by admin – 1 Comment

100_1976So, as some you know, I was in NYC earlier this week attending an ASCAP music conference. It was pretty cool. I stayed with my good friend Sarah B. and all in all, it solidified my course of action with the new album.

At the conference, I was literally inches away from a Mr. Rob Thomas of the Matchbox 20 fame. He was a really stand up guy, super laid back and real.  One of the things he said that I found pretty encouraging was that, ” if you can put together 12 great songs on an album, it will have a place.” It’s nice to hear things like that especially when that is the stage I am at right now.

Rob Thomas is a southerner. He explained that as typical southerner he was genuinely “glad to be here and glad to meet you…” and that when he’s really drunk, he likes to listen to country music and cry.

A few of the things that he gave as advive to the songwriters in the room were:

1. “Write from the inside out, not the outside in.”

2. “The only thing that matters is the song. Find other writers and collaborate.”

3. “Develope your mood. Tell your story, write your own movie when you’re writing a song.”

“The great thing about songwriters is that we start with a blank page and a sound in the air and suddenly it becomes a song with a message,” stated Rob. I think that is the most amazing thing about songwriting too. The process of creation. There is no better feeling in the world.

While I was at the conference, I meet Elena Vogt. www.myspace.com/elenavogts I couldn’t have picked a better person to hang out with. She was there with her manager, Maria, who also happens to be her super awesome mom! We all grabbed lunch together and you know that feeling you get when you meet someone and you just feel imediately comfortable…Well, that is exactly what is was like. They were both great and I am glad that I left the conference with two more friends than I had when I walked in there!

Check out her MySpace! She’s absolutely beautiful and she’s gonna be a star! Our picture is at the top…

Well, that’s it for now music friends….Stay tuned for CD release party plans!
